Cathal Young is an experience legal practitioner with specific experience in litigation, conveyancing, probate, company law and information technology law.  He is a Partner in Young O'Reilly Solicitors and Notaries Public.

Notaries are an integral part of the legal order in common and civil law. Notary Publics are one of the three pillars of the legal order (magistrates, notaries, lawyers). Their essential mission, is to confer authenticity on the legal instruments and contracts they establish for their clients in areas of law as diverse as marriage contracts, company statutes, wills, real estate transactions, etc.

A Notary Public is empowered by law and by custom and usage of notaries through the ages to:-

  • Administer Oaths
  • Attest Signatures
  • Authenticate Documents
  • Give Notarial Acts
  • Take Affidavits (other than for the courts in Ireland)
  • Take Affirmations and Declarations
  • Receive and Make Protests under Mercantile Law, and issue notarial certificates in respect of documents and persons.
  • Draw up Powers of Attorney and other legal documents customarily prepared by Notaries Public

He also advises a large number of companies on corporate matters and has held numerous directorships. In particular, he has been the Company Secretary of the Dublin City BID Company Limited since April 2010. It is a not-for-profit organisation that works, on behalf of its members, to create an attractive, welcoming, vibrant and economically successful BID area. We achieve this by working in partnership with city authorities and other organisations in the area and by delivering a range of cost-effective improvements and additional services for all stakeholders.  Our role is to enhance the appeal of the city centre as a place for shopping, recreation and business development. We work to meet these objectives through the development and delivery of programmes of Christmas lighting throughout the City, enhanced street cleaning, graffiti removal, security co-operation, marketing and events. Such events include the Dublin Fashion Festival, Dine in Dublin, Dublin at Christmas and NYE Dublin.

His memberships include the Law Society of Ireland, the Faculty of Notaries Public in Ireland, the Dublin Solicitors Bar Association and U.C.D. Alumni Association and the Medical-Legal Professionals Group.
